 Edwin Forrest Knife

At right you will find a reproduction of the knife that is said to have been given to actor Edwin Forrest by James Bowie.

If this tradition is accurate, this would be an original Bowie blade shape.

Rosewood, Historical Knives, Reproduction Knives, Forrest Knife, Edwin Forrest Knife, Reproduction Historical Bowie Knife, Custom Knife, Bowie KnifeThe blade is high carbon steel (52100 or O-1) and the handle is rosewood-type wood that has been hand checkered.

This is one long knife. The blade is about 12 3/4 inches, and the overall measurement is about 17 3/8 inches.

“The Alamo”

This tough-looking one is a reproduction of a knife carried in the film “The Alamo,” starring John Wayne.

The blade is O-1 steel and is antiqued to display a rugged patina.

Curly Maple Handle, Wood, Custom Knives, Reproduction Knives, Davy Crockett Knife, Bowie Handle is made of magnificent curly maple. Brass is put to great use on this knife with a brass guard and a brass inlay.

Approximate measurements are: blade, 10 inches; overall length, 15 inches.

“Gone to Texas”

This knife is based on the one carried by Michael Beck in the movie “Gone to Texas.”

It is a clipped bowie blade with Spanish influence. The blade is approximately 12 inches long and the overall length is about 18 inches. That’s a knife.

A few of the details include an imposing brass guard, brass pommel cap, and a handle of ivory paper micarta. This material looks amazingly like bone. The steel used in the blade is O-1 tool steel.

Handcrafted leather belt sheath sets this knife off.

Sears’ Nessmuk

Sears Nessmuk Knife, Sears Nessmuk Reproduction, Lucas Forge Knives, Nessmuk, Mr. Nessmuk, Custom Nessmuk KnifeIn 1884, Mr. George Washington Sears (1821-1890) published his book, “Woodcraft and Camping.”

The book focused on ultra-light camping and in it, there’s a woodcut showing a double bit hatchet, a pocket knife, and sheath knife.
This special edition Lucas Sears Nessmuk, Nessmuk Knife, Lucas Forge Knives, Custom Hunting Knives, Reproduction Nessmuk Knife, Reproduction Knives, Custom KnivesForge knife is made to be a close reproduction of that sheath knife.

Lucas’ version features an aged 1/8-inch, O-1 high carbon steel blade, a rustic antler handle, and three brass pins. In addition, this knife doesn’t have the usual Lucas Forge etch, but a special one: Sears Nessmuk By Lucas Forge.

Sears Nessmuk, Lucas Forge Nessmuk, Nessmuk KnivesThe knife in the woodcut appears to sport an antler crown handle, but this one is full tang. The measurements of the axe have been used to scale this knife to match the woodcut. It is just under 10 inches overall, with a 5 1/4-inch blade.

It is further complemented by a handsome sheath.
